Laurin McCracken is an award-winning artist and architect born in Meridian, Mississippi. He earned a B.A. and B.Arch. from Rice University and an M.Arch. and Urban Planning from Princeton University.

Art Career

Laurin’s paintings have been exhibited in prestigious global juried shows, including the Philadelphia, Niagara Frontier, and Pittsburgh Watercolor Societies, as well as the American Watercolor Society and California Watercolor Society. His works have also been featured in multiple exhibitions in China, such as the Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolor Biennial (2010, 2012) and the Beijing International Art Biennale (2010, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019).

Internationally, his art has been included in exhibitions like The World Watermedia Exposition (Thailand), Malaysian Watercolour International Exhibition, and International Watercolour Biennial (Belgium). His works are in the permanent collections of the National Museum of China, Fabriano Watercolor Museum (Italy), and the Art Museum of the University of Mississippi.

Laurin is a signature member of prestigious watercolor societies, including the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, and Southern Watercolor Society, and an Elected Member of the Allied Artists of America (Watermedia Category). His work has been published in Watercolor Artist, International Artist, and Southwest Art, and featured in books like Splash 9–22 and Strokes of Genius 2 & 3.

He was the Past President of Watercolor USA Honor Society and Country Leader for the USA (Fabriano in Watercolor).

Architecture Career

Laurin, a registered architect, has worked in multiple U.S. states and served as a Principal in Charge of Marketing for major architectural firms.
